Entered in the market in the year 2009, Tata Sumo Grande MK II falls in the C segment vehicles as it has UV type body shape. Although, in the very first look we were unable to judge as what all changes have been done in the car, but a closer peek made everything clear in our mind. Sumo Grande has the vigorous looks as like that of SUV & abundant space as like that in a sedan. The car has been engineered to give convenience, sleekness & the best mileage in the class. With all such promising features, Sumo Grande has acclaimed the presence of Tata Motors in the market.
If we talk about its looks, then its gallant, loud & breathtaking exteriors have crossed the expected limits. The front part is V in shape while the rear portion, which is decorated by attractive tail lamps, is very much tidy, because the spare wheel has been placed under the body, making it look differently from the other SUV’s, where in most of the cases, spare wheel, placed on the rear portion, just spoils the rear exteriors. In the front, you will also find a chrome grille & chrome strips are present on the doors, which have body colored door handles. LED side indicators have been mounted on the Outer Rear View Mirrors.
To accommodate passengers, Tata Sumo Grande has 3 rows of seats, amongst which the last row can be easily folded down as per the requirement. When the car is boarded by an individual, he/she generally looks at 2 things, the space & the dashboard. Both of them are so built, that they will definitely become the topic of discussion amongst the passengers. The legroom has been increased but the dashboard is the same as it was there in its predecessor. The driver of the car will be having an advantage on his/her side, as compared to his/her co passengers, as he has been given height adjustable seat. The smooth yet power full steering wheel can also be adjusted.
Power to this virile is delivered by 2.2 liter Direct Injection Common Rail Engine (DiCOR). As it is turbo charged, the smoothness & power is guaranteed. The movement of the piston, producing displacement of 2179 cc, produces power of 120BHP at the rate of 4000rpm & torque of 250 Nm at the rate of 1500-3000 rpm.
Manual Movement of the gears gives a very gentle feel. Chassis & suspensions are the 2 equipments it has borrowed from the former variant of Sumo. We suppose that people should start considering it, if they are planning to go for SUV or MUV. It is a toy, only meant for big boys.
