Description - it’s almost like Outlander... which I always hated in terms of looks! SUVs are all about Looks, High seating, Ground clearance, internal space... somehow it doesn fulfill any of these. Proportions are bad, y u have to make it so narrow on top? it’s just eccentricity to map a SUV to an animal... would have been better if designers had stuck to automobile designs (narrow top reminds of Maruti Swift) from inside it seems like a tunnel with a narrow glass opening in the rear! Big tyres yes but do they really add-up? One look at Fortuner will tell how to fit the big tyres to a SUV (at-least one thing original they had from a True-Blue SUV but did a lame job of designing a body around the 17" rubber).

Rear is where I think Mahindra forgot what they were working on… May be the design team had lost its enthusiasm by the time they reached backyard... the elegance of European/American even Japanese design is replaced by Ugly Chinese clumsy geometry (at display again if you look at Speedo consol)! it’s in DNA look at Scorpio, Xylo... alas!!! All plastic cover-up job of front grills…

Why u think Safari sells so much despite such grievous technical glitches? Because they got the SUV basics right - Size, High sitting, Internal Space, Majestic road presence, I am sure if Tata pays just enough attention to the body squeaks they will be hard to beat! off course they too need to fit larger tyres (slightly better proportions, seems too tall), better interiors (especially dash). Let Tata work on reliability and durability which Scorpio has earned, I will not buy anything other than Tata ever!
But, Kudos to Mahindra for packing so much (Monocoque, Disk brakes on all 4, bending projector lamps, ABS, Airbags & many more...) and not taking Indians for granted

I bought a XUV 500.first I want to ask, who did like this description. Then I want to ask, do you see the XUV 500.that is the best SUV in great looks. There are so many features. That like features we can see in 25-30 lakhs vehicles. The xuv500 is the vehicle for the best value for the money.

Rather than - Why Mahindra XUV... lets see why not XUV..!!! I was just about buying a Toyota Fortuner, however, the test drive was a disaster. Interiors are bad....drive is just like any other Diesel run SUV...so why pay 20+ Lac for such a car..!!! Then I saw XUV...similar drive pleasure....excellent interiors (looks)...good gadgets....Mahindra is decent in reputation with its Scorpio and price range of 12 Lac....Decision was simple.... Mahindra, would be low on maintenance would be durable & reliable low on cost good on performance and now comes with good interiors... No, I am not a Mahindra Salesman...but a financial services person and do believe in good returns for money...!!!
