Toyota Kirloskar Motors, a joint venture between Kirloskar Group & Toyota Motors to produce & sell Toyota vehicles in India, uses a very compliant policy while bringing their vehicles in front of India mass. To prove this we are having a very fine example of Toyota Fortuner which was slated to be launched on the Indian soil long ago, but it could only arrive in 2010.
A medium sized SUV, Toyota Fortuner also known as Toyota SW4, has been derived from Toyota Hilux. Peeping in to the history of the car, it was initially accumulated in Thailand but with the wish to expend its wing span, company also opened its assembling facilities in other countries like Indonesia, etc. It has been raised on the platform of Toyota’s famous pickup Truck, Hilux. Originally most of the politicians, leaders, etc were addicted to Mahindra Scorpio or someone who had good finances, brought Ford Endeavour. But now all those things are the matter of past. Though the ministers are the same but their vehicles have been replaced by Toyota Fortuner. It is the attitude or in other words we can say that the way it makes us realize its presence, has garnered it an overshadowing character.
The cluster of Toyota badge residing on the honey comb grille & the chrome finish above the bonnet is when combined with the head lights, the outcome is an expressive character. A black skid plate covers the air dam, so far as possible. The back of the car has a small wiper to clean the small windscreen. An extra wheel has not been placed on the tail gate, which opens up in the upward direction rather it has been placed beneath the rear bumper.
After boarding this high altitude car, what amazed me were the interiors. I had seen such interiors earlier also & when I was running by brain, I recalled that the same interiors have been used in its sister concern, Toyota Innova. But we cannot say who has borrowed from whom. Adjustable steering because of its tiltable nature, with the mounted controls & wooden finish in the interiors give the interiors a solid built. MP3 is there with 6 speakers, but as Toyota has not mastered the skill of being the best in the entertainment industry, so we can expect the quality of the Music system, which is OK. But what is lacking & is not easy to tolerate is the multi information display. The front seats with adjustable height, middle row seats & the rear seats which has lees amount of legroom compared to those in front, are comfortable. Available in 4 wheel drive or in rear wheel drive, the car has been designed in Toyota Technical Center, Australia. Car only being launched in 2982 cc CRDI diesel engine, which produces power of 163 BHP & 343 Nm of Torque, has brought a storm in the SUV segment of the car market.
The showroom owner informed us that the growing demand led to bring booking of the car to a halt, for some period of time. The car has the capability to attract the potential buyers to it & people will surely not give a second thought to spend their savings or hard earned money on it.
