When the sedan market in India was booming up, Tata Motors also wanted to grab a place & wanted to be ahead of its competitors. Generally a sedan is 4 or greater than 4 meter in length but Tata wanted to recast this trend by launching a sedan with a length of less than 4 meter. All this gave birth to Indigo.With certain modifications, the car was re-launched as Tata Indigo eCS. At the time when the fuel prices were soaring up to newer heights, Tata claimed that the car can offer a mileage of 23 km/l & this statement was more than enough to attract people to its showrooms. Though the overall looks of the car are similar to that of the previous version, the only new addition is the presence of side indicators on the Outer rear view mirrors.
If we talk about engine, then both, petrol & diesel engines are present in it, as per the variants. 1.2 liter petrol engine gives 63 BHP of power & 100 Nm of torque, not necessarily at the same RPM. Another one is 1.4 liter diesel engine, in which the power & torque specifications are 68 BHP & 140 Nm, respectively & again not necessarily at the same RPM.
Responsibility of propelling Indigo eCS Car ahead is equally shared by its engine & 5-speed manual gear transmission fitted in both the engines. When we were discussing & comparing the car with other cars in the same segment, we found that the power is almost the same but the torque of the car is notable. Over here we would like to mention that less gear shifting is required when the torque is higher which ultimately improves the fuel economy.
To slow down the car, front pair of tyres has disc brake while the rear ones have the drum brake. But if you think that this arrangement of brake is not sufficient & you are searching for some additional safety features, then we are feeling very sad to state that the car has no additional features like any braking system or any airbags. The top variants of the model have the alloy wheels & the car has 14 inch tyres.
Indigo eCS starts at 4 lakh & the price bar moves up to the limit 5 lakh. In terms of price, this sedan is cheaper than many hatch backs & after a deep analysis we found that this may be one of the reasons why we see more Indigo eCS than Indica Vista, on roads.
Tata has learnt from the mistakes committed by it while manufacturing Indigo CS & all those have been removed. All these factors, are when clubbed with the wide area network of company & reliability of Tata vehicles, we can hopefully say that Tata will surely able to roll out good number of cars from its showrooms
