Tata’s have always strived to provide higher fuel efficiency at a cheaper price. Company’s first passenger vehicle in the Indian market was Indica. It was the fuel efficiency of Indica which brought more than lakh bookings of this car, in a month. The body of the car was designed in Italy by Institute of Development in Automobile Engineering. If we keep the fuel efficiency of this car aside then the people who had brought this car earlier, were not happy, so the car was worked upon & two versions, V1 & V2, of it were launched one after the other. The V2 version had both the petrol & diesel engine. Diesel became a hit amongst the people but exactly vice versa happened with the petrol variant.
But we don’t know what we should call it, a foolish decision in that particular stage when the diesel engine was quite popular or foresightedness, that Tata’s decided to discontinue the diesel version. With this decision they completely ventured into the Petrol engine market by finally launching Tata Indica V2 Xeta. There is no dictionary meaning for XETA as it is an acronym for Extra Fuel Efficiency Torque Advantage engine.
It is a petrol car but again the petrol engine has been divided into 2 variants, 1.2 liter & 1.4 liter. Outer specifications of the car, in both the variants, remain the same with the length as 3690 mm, width as 1665 mm & height as 1485 mm. At the max it can accommodate 5 individuals. Front part has eye shaped head lamps & between them is a chrome grille. Boosting its style are the character lines on the hood & on the side portion of the body. Car is heavier than its competitors by 200 kilograms, as the kerb weight is 995 kg.
Power churned out by 1.4 liter engine is 70BHP@4800rpm while that in 1.2 liter case is 62BHP@5000rpm. The engine tries to spoil the comfort level in the cabin as it produces unwanted noise. But when this heavy weight car is clubbed with wonderful suspensions, which are fitted into it, then we get to know the perfect example of support, wheel balancing & stability, which in the end give superb ride quality.
Indica V2 Xeta carries almost all new & classy interiors, in it. Both the front & the rear rows are spacious & comfortable. Capacity of the boot can be further raised by folding down the rear seat. While driving the car in the city I felt that it is little bit difficult to turn it around the corners & that may be due to its turning radius. While looking for a new car, if the budget & security are your primary concern, then this car can very easily fulfill your requirements.
