Maini electric cars started to dominate the roads of India since its inception in 2001. They are mainly urban cars which are sold under the owner company, Reva Electric Car Company (RECC). RECC is based in the technology-savvy Bangalore. It was formed by India’s Maini Group and California’s AEV LLC. And it has been known since then as a company producing environmentally friendly electric cars. Currently, Maini produces two electric cars called REVAi and REVA L-ion, a city car which can accommodate four people. And as of date, these Reva cars are the highest and best selling electric cars in the world.

Maini is a car manufacturing company which was founded by Chetan Maini. Today, the Maini Group is considered as one of India’s best manufacturing companies. There is a very remarkable success that Maini has come up to in both the local and international scene when it comes to car manufacturing. But aside from all this, Maini also engage in other businesses such as engineering, materials handling, logistics, and aerospace among others. But the best it has been known for is still its innovation of electric cars. The electric cars of Maini are regarded as the pioneering course of achieving the aim to come up with environmentally and economically friendly cars. This is an initiative of the Maini Group that will always mark its existence in history, especially in India. 

Maini has been receiving international patronage from more than twenty five countries. Even if the manufacturing sites of Maini are based in India, Maini has been exporting its products to other countries as well to live up to its vision of providing electric cars in the future. This is one of the best answers to address the rising cost of fuels and the growing scarcity of this product used mostly in running automobiles.

The company was acquired in May 2010 by the USD 7.1 billion Mahindra Group of India.
