If someone ask us to describe Scorpio in one sentence it would be - a benign yet skillful SUV from the family of Mahindra & Mahindra. From the day one of its launching, Mahindra Scorpio is leading the list of the SUVs in terms of users’ satisfaction. Whenever any of its variants has been launched, it has always managed to create a buzz around, impressing the audiences while in the public or the jury members at any award function, by its high technology which has been judicially used in all its segments like Exteriors, Interiors, Engine & above all, the Safety of the Passengers, so that no segment lags behind the other.
Amongst general mass, many times it has been heard that it is mini, mobile powerhouse & this is the truth which cannot be avoided, no matter what all reasons or justifications are brought into the air by its competitors. And when we raised its hood, we got the reason why it has been termed as a powerhouse. Mahindra Scorpio was the presence of 2.2 liter, 4-cylinder mHawk diesel engine that was sufficient enough to raise our eyebrows. When the control of the vehicle was given to, us as we took it out for the test drive, we realized that just because of that mighty engine, it accelerates from 0 to 60 km/h of speed in just 5.7 seconds. After the drive, when we got to know that the power of the vehicle is 120bhp, then the picture came up in my mind as how easily we were zooming & overtaking other vehicles, moving with us on the road.
The engine is intelligent enough to go into standby mode when not in use & this due to the presence of Micro Hybrid Technology. And to bring back the engine to its normal position, we just had to give a slight touch to the pedal. This not only helps in saving fuel but also conserving our Mother Nature. When we sat into its cockpit, we were taken aback by its interiors. As we opened the front doors to board Scorpio, we were welcomed by a voice from its Voice Assist system & later on when we checked the record books we found that it is the first Indian SUV having such an amazing system in it. This system generates voice whenever the car is boarded, when the parking brake is not removed, when less amount of fuel is left in the machine, during high engine temperature, when the seat belts are not worn or when any of its boarders or when any of the doors is not shut properly, provoking the driver to take an immediate action. The view from the cockpit is unbelievable, as with its highly positioned seat, we got the commanding view of the road. In any vehicle, Safety always takes the forefront & Scorpio is no exception. To save its passengers from any mishappening, Mahindra & Mahindra has fitted instantly inflating dual air bags, into it.
Till now, all has been well for Mahindra Scorpio SUV, but from our point of view & also after knowing people’s suggestion, the areas which Mahindra should focus on are, improved version of audio system, space in the 3rd row & the gear shift.
