Toyota Corolla Altis Review

Send to a friend...

Toyota India, in mid June, has introduced the novel, re-touched Toyota Corolla Altis with a new exterior design with chic grille. The best part of this sedan is that it comes in petrol as well as diesel variants. This 10th generation Toyota Corolla is among the best-selling sedans because of its reliability, comfortable silent ride, small size, typical economy feature, and fuel efficiency. Just supply the gas and the rare oil change and you can drive as long as you can. This is another reason why over 200,000 Americans including the retirees choose Corollas every year.

Engine

A few variants of Toyota Corolla Altis are equipped with Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) system and 1794 cc, inline DOHC VVT-i engine to offer a power of 132 PS at 6000 rpm as well as a torque of 170 Nm at 4200 rpm. On the other hand, the remaining ones possess the Common Rail fuel system and 1364cc, D-4D Diesel engine that offers a power of 88.4 PS at 3800 rpm as well as a torque of 205 Nm at 2800 rpm. In addition, a few variants offer automatic transmissions, whereas the others boast manual transmissions. Apart from this, the variants also differ in terms fuel tank capacity that is either 50 or 55 litres.

Design

Compact design to hold simple controls is the main feature of Toyota Corolla Altis. The outcome of this simple design is certainly not minimal in the sense that even at highway speeds, the road and wind noise are put down and that the cabin inside is spacious and comfortable. The common comfort features of this sedan include accessory power outlet, low fuel warning lights, trunk lights, power windows, rear center armrest, power steering, and trunk lights. Similarly, the common exterior features include Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), integrated antenna, fog lamps (optional in one of the variants), tinted glass, body-colored bumpers, adjustable headlights, and boot release.

Interiors

While the interior accommodating the five passengers seems somewhat okay, the seats are quite comfortable to act as a recliner. Both the front and rear seats have enough room, but are not good for long-distance traveling. The main features of the interior are adjustable steering column, air conditioner, heater, digital clock, glove compartment, front and rear speakers, music system in some, and audio system remote control in a majority of the variants.

Safety

The Toyota Corolla Altis offers safety features such as anti-theft alarm, rear view mirrors for day and night visibility, airbags, child lock, central locking, keyless entry, door ajar warning, seat belt warning, front and side impact beams, rear seat belts, steering wheel adjust, seat belt warning, and engine check.

Variants, Price, and Colors

Toyota Corolla Altis comes in seven variants namely, 1.8 J, 1.8G, 1.8GL, 1.8VL, D-4D G, D-4D GL, and D-4D J. All of these variants are available in four different colors such as Champagne Mica Metallic, Dark Red Mica Metallic, Light Blue Metallic, and Silver Mica Metallic. Toyota Corolla Altis Price range for these variants is from Rs. 10.06 to Rs. 14.07 Lakhs.
