Mumbai, October 25, 2007:  SkodaIndia on Wednesday launched its luxury car Laura Ambiente and said it would launch its hatchback model Fabia in Delhi Auto Expo next year.

To make Fabia in India, SkodaIndia, a subsidiary of SkodaAuto, would be ramping up its operations in Aurangabad unit, a top company official told reporters here. The Aurangabad plant has a capacity to make 30,000 units per year. Skoda's capacity is not running at full capacity, Skoda India Managing Director Karsten Bogun said.

"Once Fabia is launched in India, our production capacities would go up. We are committed to substantial investments in India," Bogun said. Skoda, which entered India in 2001, has sold 45,000 cars in the domestic market.

The company is adding more dealers to its network. By 2006-end, it had 48 dealer networks and plans to add four more in 2007 and touch 65 in 2008. SkodaIndia expects to sell 1,000 Ambiente in the next 12.
