Managements refusal to take back casual laborers have caused stir in the Maruti plant, located at Manesar. As per the reports, around 800 workers have joined the strike against the company.  Not only from Maruti, but the workers from other companies like Powretrain, Lumax, Satyam Auto, etc. have also joined the strike, supporting their peers. Workers have started these fresh strikes just after the few days of the end of a month long strike, which had caused a heavy loss of capital to the company.

Angry workers have demolished property inside the factory premises causing a huge damage to the company. Apart from that, they have also attacked around 300 co-workers, executives & other employees at various other positions who refused to join the protest. Seeing all this, the company has declared that the environment is not safe for the workers, for some time. Engineers, managers have been asked to be at home, issuing safety instructions to them & other employees.

As per the company spokesperson, workers have indulged themselves in the violence acts. Situation became so tense that police was called in to bring the situation under control & also to evacuate the injured workers, who were then taken to the hospital.

The trouble started when the contractual workers, who were asked to join the company, were not allowed to enter in the company & also the suspension orders of 44 workers were not withdrawn. However company has said that some of the contractual workers have already resumed their duties, before the starting of the strike, while rest will be asked to join the company at the earliest, as soon as another facility starts up in Manesar.

However the police has been called in but they are not adequate in numbers as majority of the police personnel’s have been posted in the areas where the elections are about to take place.

Workers at another plant, Suzuki Power train India Ltd, which is the backbone, as it supplies the diesel engines & transmissions, have also sat on strike, supporting their colleagues at Manesar plant, hence disrupting the supply of the diesel engines & transmissions & production of Alto, Swift, A-Star and Estilo compacts and Dzire and SX4 sedans.

Because of the ongoing strike, company could only produce 1,800 vehicles as compared to its normal production of 2800 vehicles, a day. All the members of the top level management of the company were very happy & were having a smiling face when a month long stir ended a few days back, at the same plant & they were expecting that the work will resume its pace in a very short period & they would increase their production as the festive season is on its way.
The senior officials are in a very much worried state of mind as according the officials, all the operations at the plant will be halted if the strike is carried on a little longer.  The stir has created a lot of problems, both for employees & top level management & the lines of worries can be clearly noticed on their fore-head as the strike has come at such a time when the production has to be raised up because of the knock of the festive season at the doors, when the demand will be at its peak & the rivals are launching new models daily.
