The coming festive season in the month of October will be having something great in its store for the automobile lovers of the country, as it will be a party time for 2 reasons, one would be the occasion of auspicious festival of Diwali & another would be the launching of new car form the South Korean auto biggie Hyundai automobiles.

The new entrant in the automobile market will be a hatchback car by Hyundai automobile, which has been un-officially named as Hyundai EON or HA.  On a very first look, the thing which strikes our mind is its classy & husky looks, thanks to its hexagonally designed bonnet, bug eye shaped head lamps & body lines built in keeping aerodynamic concepts in mind.

This South Korean company, also India’s 2nd largest automaker,  which had gained a name in the automobile sector of India by launching 2 of its all time great models i.e. Hyundai Santro & Hyundai i10, has put tons of efforts in designing & engineering this car which took good number of years. If rumors are to be believed it was previously called as H800. It will present challenge to Maruti Alto & Chevy Spark, one of which is a product of country’s largest car maker, Maruti Suzuki.

The advantages alto will be having to its side are that, its   experience in the local & very familiar market & also the number of years which it has spent into it, making it a very trustworthy brand in the minds of Indian customers. Another challenge which Hyundai may meet while launching its product in the Indian market is the reach of Maruti Suzuki in the local market as it has good number of showrooms, dealers spread across the length & breadth of the country.

But despite of above mentioned challenges, The Hyundai Eon can survive for a longer time, as a strong competitor to other models in the same segment, in the cut-throat competition in the Indian auto market. This hatchback has completely prepared itself to compete with biggies in the Indian auto industry. The HA, as it is also called by this name, is very low priced.

Though it is small in size but in cannot be compared with Tata Nano.  This hatchback, which is waiting for its official name will be bigger, contemporary and will provide a much better pleasure while riding & handling.  It will be acting as a replacement to the company’s previous model which was very famous in the Indian mass, the Hyundai Santro. As per Hyundai officials, it will easily occupy the market because of its efficiency & performance. It is expected to be present in 5-6 variants, with the base model coming only with the basic facilities, but as we move higher in the series, the car will have AC, power steering, power windows, MP3 player, key less entry.

Although it is established on massively altered platform of Santro Xing, it will be having all new looks. It comprises of the trademark of Hyundai’s i.e. its hexangular grille. On seeing the front portion, having big head lights & secure bonnet, a picture of bug comes up in the mind of people. It totally depends on buyers whether they want the fog lamps in it or not. The absence of Quarter glass on the rear door gives a sporty look.

Mileage of 21.1 km/l is expected to be delivered by Hyundai Eon. Among its engine specifications it may have 3-cylinder petrol engine arriving with the capacity of 814cc, capable of producing power of 56PS@5500rpm & torque of 76.5Nm@4000rpm. The boot comes at a low height making it easy to load & unload, with the capacity of 215ltr. It has a wheelbase of 2380mm, with the height of 3495mm, width of 1550mm & the length is 1500mm. The front legroom is 1010mm while the rear one is 835mm, by these specifications, it is clearly computable that it is taller & wider than Maruti alto. To give an easy entry & exit in the car, Hyundai EON has the doors which open, making an angle of 90 degree with the body. The expected tyre specification is 155/70 R13, on 13-inch rims or 145/80 R12 on 12-inch rims.

Above mentioned specifications can very easily cater the needs of Indian customers. If compared, it is very new in styling & equipped with latest technologies giving a very modern & very attractive look as compared to company’s previous hatchback, Santro or our own home made Maruti Suzuki Alto. 4 commuters can very easily sit   into it, which is quite passable.

Hyundai automobile is very much excited on its launch & is confident enough that it will very soon grab the eyeballs of the car lovers, will very soon create its own space in the market. We can expect a price some-where around Rs. 2.5 - 3 lacs.

The designing & styling is some-what exalted from i-series product of the same company. Apart from its launch in India, The plan to export Hyundai EON is also in the pipeline.
