A flexfuel engine has also been designed especially from Brazil. In this engine petrol and gasohol will be mixed and engine software will recognize the composition and will automatically adapt to the firing cycle.
Fiat Linea will also showcase a unique hands-free technology dubbed Blue & Me developed by Fiat and Microsoft. This system synchs the cars audio system to the driver's cell phone via Bluetooth thereby enabling the person to make and answer calls through the car's audio system. It also displays text messages on the dashboard display. There is a play back music stored on your phone giving new meaning to virtual experience.
The company is planning to launch this car in India as well in late 2008. This car would make its debut in the C+ segment of Indian Automobile Industry.
The car has conventional clutch and gear box so there is no power spacing torque converter and hydraulic gears. There is a small actuator unit to operate the clutch and move the gears.
Turkey plans
Though designed by the Fiat Style Centre in Italy the Linea is built in association with Tofas A.S., a Turkish joint venture between Fiat and Koc Holdings who manufacture Fiat products under license for the domestic market. Manufactured at Tofas's plant in Bursa, the Linea will be sold in key markets in Europe, North Africa, South East Asia, South America, Russia and India in a phased manner. The plant in Bursa will have an output of 60,000 cars by the end of the year catering to the domestic market as well as exports. As per Fiat's projections they hope to achieve more than 280,000 registrations by 2012, critical mass from this being achieved in China, South America and Russia.
